Grant Black

Grant Black, joined The Calgary Herald photo staff in 2000, after nearly 22 years at The Windsor Star.
As a photographer at The Herald, he covered the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City, the Mayerthorpe tragedy, the royal tour of Alberta and Saskatchewan in 2005 and the Flames 2004 Stanley Cup drive.
At The Star he was photo editor for six years, helped redesign the newspaper twice and launched the paper’s web site. In Windsor he freelanced for many publications including Canadian Geographic, Maclean’s, and The Toronto Star. He also took photos for the book projects A Day in the Life of Canada, A Day in the Life of the NHL and Share the Flame.
He now supervises the photo staff at The Herald but sill manages to pick up his cameras a couple times a week to shoot assignments.
